The new X Series of Sony’s successful Bravia range of LCDs feature 1920 x 1080p HD capabilities and come in 52, 46 and 40 inch models. Also unveiled are the next generation of its popular V and S Series of Bravia LCDs.

“High definition is a key focus for Sony Australia and indeed the entire Sony group of companies. Full-on Sony high definition 1080 is a must have for consumers who are serious about entertainment. Seeing is believing and these displays bring to life HD content such as the latest cinematography, blockbuster movies and PlayStation 3 games,” said Sony Australia’s Graham Keogh.

The X Series TVs come complete with an integrated HD digital TV tuner as well as two HDMI inputs. Sony says it has also redesigned the backlight using improved light-emitting phosphors to boost the range of red, green and blue in the spectrum and added precision matched RGB filters for larger than life colour. Imagery improvements are also reliant on the Bravia engine, says Sony.

The panels in each of the new models of the Bravia range are produced by the 7th generation manufacturing process and feature S-PVA molecular control claiming to provide screens which allow for a wider viewing angle, static contrast ratio of 1500:1 and dynamic contrast ratio of 7000:1.

The integrated speakers in the Bravia range, Dolby Pro Logic II Virtual Surround digital signal processing and BBE Digital technology take care of the audio.

The second generation of V and S Series Bravias are also now available. The 40 and 32 inch V Series Bravias include a high definition tuner, 720p resolution and HDMI input. The 46, 32 and 26 inch S Series models feature 720p native panel resolution and the option of HDMI and PC connectivity.

Also introduced today – Sony’s first full HD, SXRD micro rear projection Bravia televisions. The KDS70R2000 (70R) and the KDS60R2000 (60R) – offer screen sizes of 70 inch and 60 inch respectively. Sony says they are the first Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) televisions to hit Australian shores, delivering full 1920 x 1080p resolution.
