Sony have rolled out a software update for their Playstation 4 Pro today that improves the capabilities of the machine when it comes to viewing 4K content.
As put by Sony, “starting later today, the Media Player app is getting an update to support 4K video playback on PS4 Pro. Following this update, 4K videos in mp4 format saved on a USB stick or home server can be played on the Media Player app.”
Disappointingly, Ultra 4K Blu-Ray content is still off the table.
Previously, the only 4K content able to be played was that accessible via Youtube or Netflix. Sony remind users that the feature will only work with 4K-certified TVs.
