Online storage outfit Dropbox has acquired start-ups Loom and Hackpad in a bid to expand its services. Loom is a photo-sharing company while Hackpad is a document-sharing start-up.
Dropbox has been making small acquisitions in the past two years and appears to be ramping up the pace, buying at least four companies this year.
San Francisco-based Loom said it will shut down its service and roll it into Dropbox’s recently released Carousel cloud-based storage service.
Loom launched its paid photo service in October 2013 with US$1.4 million in backing from investors.
