A thief in New York state might have stolen Jose Caceres’ laptop, but the freeloader didn’t count on Caceres’ own tenacity and determination to catch him.
Once the laptop had been stolen, techie Caceres used a remote access program to find out what websites were being accessed by the thief. As it happens, porn sites were the light-fingered pilferers sites of choice and when he typed in his name and address to register on such a sight, Caceres rang the police who apprehended him.
Now as well as having the shame of being labelled a thief, the 34-year-old suspect now has to live with jibes from friends and family about what he does in his spare time.
