The kitchen sink is an integral part of your kitchen, and luckily designers are cottoning on to the fact that they can stylish as well as practical. Smeg is the latest such company to do so, with its new line of sinks which are designed to look and feel like your other kitchen appliances.
Featuring the straight, clean lines and angles that have become so popular with today’s cooktops, ovens and dishwashers, the Square Line sinks have satin stainless steel bodies, and come with two installation options – the conventional inset method and the “seamless” undermount installation. The latter means the edge of the sink lies flush with the lower edge of the benchtop, so there are ridges where food can get trapped.
The largest model in the new range is a twin sink with two 32 litre bowls. There is a one and half bowl style, as well as an extra wide (65 litre) capacity sink. But for smaller kitchens or bar areas, there is a 33.6 litre single bowl model.
Each sink can be teamed with matching accessories which include a choice of timber or polyethylene chopping board and a large stainless steel colander in two sizes – one for the main bowl and the other for the auxiliary sink – smart!
RRP: from $699 to $2490 for the sink range. $165 for the chopping boards and $390 and $490 for the stainless steel colanders.
