NEC is the latest to jump on the plasma price plummet bandwagon, casting 42 inches of plasma into the market for $2999.
NEC claims its PXT-42SVI meets the latest HD (1080i, 720P) standards and features HDMI interface. We note, however, it offers 852 x 480 native (standard definition) resolution. Also quoted is 10 000:1 contrast ratio and 1500 nit brightness “For clearer, brighter pictures from today’s movies and sporting action”.
Supporting the latest in connectivity including HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), component, S-Video, D-Sub15 and composite, it also has an RS232 connection for receiving future software upgrades.
Detachable inbuilt stereo speakers jump to the tune of 10 watts of power.
Featuring a convenient swivel base that allows viewing from various angles, the PXT-42SVI is also wall mountable (with optional brackets). A remote is included.
NEC’s Paul Cunningham said of the PXT-42SVI “Without a doubt, the new 42 inch plasma TV represents unbeatable value. As a stylish display with advanced technology there is no better value plasma TV”.
