Tablet and mobile gamers now have a direct link to Tegra processor-optimised games on their portable Android devices with the Tegra Zone app.NVIDIA is promoting its dual-core Tegra 2 processors that are made especially for high performance mobile processing with the release of an app that finds and sorts games suited for the Tegra 2.
Some of the titles that are currently listed include Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Deluxe HD (which is built on Unreal Engine 3 like many PC games), Samurai II: Vengeance and Galaxy on Fire 2 THD.
The Google Android exclusive also previews hi-res screenshots, game reviews and videos. Users can link to the games through the app and purchase and download them through the Android Market.
Tony Tamasi, VP of Content and Technology at NVIDIA, said that the company’s goal is to bring console-class gaming to phones and tablets.
NVIDIA is going up against processor developers like Intel and AMD with its graphic-centred Tegra 2 that uses an ARM processor alongside an 8-core NVIDIA graphics processor.
Intel’s VP and General Manager, Mooly Eden has said that Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors would do away with separate graphics processors in the average computer, but NVIDIA has evolved to fit into the tablet and smartphone market with its latest chips.
