CANBERRA – New complaints to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman were the lowest since July-September 2006. The TIO received 26,023 new complaints during the September quarter.Complaints about mobile services totalled around 10,000, down from 15,000 in July-September 2014. Landline complaints were also down, dropping from 8644 to 7229.
Most complaints were for billing and payments at 44.3 percent. More than 2200 complaints about the NBN were lodged in the quarter. While this was up on the previous period, the rise had been expected, as increasing numbers of premises are connected to the NBN.
