Who still buys BlackBerrys in Australia?Mainly business customers, says Australia’s biggest telco, Telstra.
The telco, whose Blackberry phones sits right beside the hugely popular Apple and Samsung in Telstra retail stores, says it is “happy” with BB sales this year, as it launched some new devices in a bid to catch up with rivals Apple, Samsung and Co.
“We are happy with the way BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 sales have tracked this year, and expect there to be similar interests in the new BlackBerry Z30”, a Telstra spokesperson told CN.
The Z10 and Z30 in particular, appeal to Telstra’s consumer customer base. However, “the majority of BlackBerry sales at Telstra are to business customers”, the rep confirmed.
Last week, the troubled Canadian giant launched new Z30 in Australia tipped as the ‘fastest biggest’ BlackBerry ever.
Recent figures from analysts IDC, show the smartphone pioneer lags behind all the major players in ANZ, powering under 5% of smartphones, usurped to the No.3 spot by Microsoft Windows Phone.
