Telstra Hits The Waves With Rip Curl

Surfing fans can watch the Rip Curl Pro surfing competition from Bells Beach in Victoria anywhere in the country as Telstra will be taking the competition straight to compatible Next G mobile phones.

Telstra Media Group Managing Director, Mr. Justin Milne said that the company is using its networks and expertise to deliver this ‘Australian’ first. “Easter is a time when people like to travel, so as long as they have their compatible Telstra Next G mobile phone with them, they can see all the live surfing action from this iconic Australian event.”

BigPond’s coverage of the Rip Curl Pro includes the live streaming and daily highlights of all the surfing action on mobiles. Telstra Next G mobile customers can subscribe to the Rip Curl Pro Action Pack to view live streaming as well as access a library of Rip Curl video content, including  Rip Curl’s signature documentary TV shows  Somewhere – The Search, Rubber Soul 2, Stephanie “Happy” Gilmore – 2008 ASP Women’s World Champion and The Rise and Rise of Stephanie Gilmore.

Telstra Next G mobile customers can subscribe to the Rip Curl Pro Action Pack for $9.95 (including data charges) for the duration of the entire event, or purchase a $3.95 day pass.

Highlights and library videos are individually available for 50 cents per clip. Highlights can also be seen online at bigpond.com and live streaming of the event happens online at live.ripcurl.com. This content is unmetered for most BigPond Broadband Members.

The Rip Curl Pro event starts on 7 April and concludes 18 April 2009. Live streaming will only occur when the competition is on.
