The HTC Snap is a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone that is available exclusively through Telstra until November. It comes with a Telstra Blue Tick which means that it is recommended for handheld use in rural coverage areas.

Telstra Business Executive Director, Cathy Aston, said the HTC snap is the device for busy business people who need to manage their e-mail on the go.

“Equipping employees with mobile e-mail can yield tangible productivity benefits for businesses of all sizes. The email-ready HTC Snap lets users steal back otherwise lost work time by keeping them connected to email on the commute to work, on the way to the airport or when waiting to attend a meeting,” Aston said.

“The HTC Snap also helps users stay on top of their appointments and tasks by providing a built-in organiser that can automatically link with office calendars like Microsoft Outlook. And with a full suite of productivity applications including mobile Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a large screen, users can read office documents effortlessly on this device,” she added.

Telstra Product Management Executive Director, Ross Fielding, said that the HTC Snap would appeal to business people who demand always-on email, as well as consumers who are increasingly interested in messaging capabilities on the go.

“HTC Snap features a full QWERTY keyboard which gives users much better input precision and speed when tapping out an email, responding to a text message or searching the mobile web. Consumer customers will also love this device too. With it they can read and respond to emails via mobile web accounts like Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo!7 Mail and send and receive emails, photos and files at mobile broadband speeds, thanks to a connection to the Telstra Next G network. And for business users Blue Tick performance and Telstra Next G network coverage mean this device works pretty much wherever most business people need to,” Fielding said.

The HTC Snap can be teamed with the recently-launched Microsoft Mobile Enterprise Solution (MMES) – a push email and data plan solution for Windows Mobile smartphones. The solution combines an Activesync push email service, a Next G network data allowance and helpdesk support at a single, easy to manage monthly fixed price. The MMES solution starts from $39.95 per month, per service.

The HTC Snap is available for $0 upfront to Telstra Business and Consumer customers on a$60, or higher, Telstra phone plan. It is available from August 11.
