Andrew Volard, the Managing Director of Motorola Australia, has quit to take on the role of General Manager of Mobile for Telstra. After more than six years working for Motorola Mobile Devices, and four years at the helm as Managing Director for South Pacific region, Volard is set to take on a senior role in Telstra a role that he says he is “really looking forward to”.
Volard will take up the role in January in a year when analysts are tipping that demand for mobile phones will decline by up to 12%.
Volard has also resigned as the Deputy Chair of AMTA, where he served for more than 2.5 years.
AMTA CEO Chris Althaus described Mr Volard as an AMTA stalwart, who recognised the key role of the industry’s peak group and the critical need for unity and co-ordinated action in representing the industry on key policy issues.
Laura Stier, Vice President – Operator Sales, Motorola Mobile Devices Asia, will assume the role of Acting Managing Director, Mobile Devices, Motorola South Pacific, until a replacement is found.
