Australias biggest telco are to move jobs offshore, ABC reports.
Communication unions have vented their rage as news of the jobs hit, which are destined to cheaper labour economies including India and other as-yet unspecified locations, and have pledged to fight the move.
160 jobs are set for India, while another 146 posts with Telstra contractors are also tipped to go offshore, according to reports.
“It’s absolutely not a done deal. We’ll be out there fighting and part of the deal will be urgent discussions with the company,” Burt Blackburn from Communications Workers Union warned.
“But we’ll be going very, very public and putting pressure back on Telstra.”
