The T-Box has been awarded as the “Best TV Service Innovation” accolade at the IPTV World Forum hosted in London. Its offering trumped those of competitors AT&T, Vodafone, VideoGuard, Verizon, Microsoft, Entertain Sat and Connect TV. This is the second time in a row the T-Box has been awarded at the IPTV World Forum.
Telstra’s Executive Director of Media, Applications and User Experience, J-B Rousselot, believes the award solidifies the T-Box’s ability to deliver an exceptional entertainment experience. He said:
“Since the T-Box launched in 2010 we have aimed to provide our T-Box customers with compelling content over a range of exclusive channels and the vast library of titles on BigPond Movies. T-Box continues to evolve to bring even more entertainment to Australian homes, such as the recent Media Player upgrade, over 30 channels of Foxtel and from this weekend every minute of live AFL.
“We also believed the T-Box experience should be easy for our customers to use so we have not only been focusing on content but also applications including a remote control app for smartphones and tablets and service upgrades for faster streaming, all to provide a better user experience for our customers,” Rousselot concluded.
Currently over 300,000 Australian homes have a Telstra T-Box installed, which gives them access to:
· More than 4000 titles on BigPond Movies
· Foxtel on T-Box including exclusive AFL content for 2012 season
· AFL and NRL Game Analysers
· 11 BigPond TV Channels including news, AFL, NRL, V8 Supercars, Home Shopping and BigPond Music
· Applications including Picasa and Weather
The T-Box offers PVR functionality, recording TV directly onto its 320GB hard drive. It’s available outright for $299 or can be added to eligible Telstra customer accounts.
