Network Ten’s tenplay digital platform is headed towards the 2 million mark, with Ten today revealing it can now be found on 1.9 million devices less than 18 months after its launch. The tenplay app and website, promoted by Ten as the first phase of its “TV everywhere” strategy upon its September 2013 launch, provides audiences free access to Ten’s catch-up video platform along with live streaming.
Mobile and tablet users make up the lion’s share of tenplay’s numbers, downloading the app 1.7 million times across Android, iOS and Windows devices.
Installations on smart TVs and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms takes the total to 1.9 million, with tenplay also available through FreeviewPlus, Apple TV and Fetch TV.
“Streaming on mobile and tablets now accounts for 50 per cent of our streams and we look forward to more growth in 2015,” commented Ten chief digital officer Rebekah Horne.
Horne added that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which debuted on Ten this month, has proven a successful addition to tenplay.
“I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has delivered on tenplay in terms of page views, unique visitors and video views,” she commented.
Horne said exclusive content, such as The Fall Out Zone, featuring one hour of live streaming from the celebrity camp straight after each show, “is generating real audience engagement”.
