But to the serious audiophiles, the Goldmund brand represents the creme de la creme of the hi-fi world.
The company makes no apologies about making its product in limited quantities and pricing it so it is only available to those who can really afford it.
Owners of Goldmund hi-fi are amongst good company, with Hollywood stars including Arnold Schwarznegger and Tom Cruise rumoured to be fans (Schwarznegger even has an entire home theatre room set up in his mansion that was completely fitted out by Goldmund experts).
That’s why only one solitary pair of Goldmund’s new Logos speakers – prices for individual members of the series are in the five-figure ballpark – have been brought into Australia.
The speakers are housed at Advance Audio in the Sydney suburb of Leichhardt and according to operations manager Raffi Keverian, there has already been a reasonable amount of interest in the speakers over the past couple of weeks since they arrived.
The Logos concept is based on a metallic construction to provide superior audio quality, according to Goldmund president Michel Reverchon.
“This makes them completely repetitive, and you have complete control over the ageing process as well as greater stability,” he says.
However, according to Reverchon, the greatest expense in making Goldmund products is the research that goes into perfecting them.
And, he admits, the fact that the equipment is made in such limited numbers adds that touch of exclusivity to the brand.
