Giant video-game publisher Electronic Arts has posted a better-than-expected quarterly result. The result is in part due to the popular Star Wars Battlefront video game that continues to attract new players and a strong digital business.EA net profit came in 19 percent ahead of
expectations. Revenue was up three percent to US$924 million (A$1.25 billion).
Like many traditional video-game publishers, EA is shifting its businesses
toward more digital downloads as opposed to physical game discs bought in
stores. The company’s digital revenue rose 18 percent from the year-ago period
to $712 million.
Mobile revenue was up 15 percent from the same period a year ago.
