Smeg has released a 1950s styled fridge dressed in denim.
I don’t think I’ve ever stood in my kitchen and thought to myself: my fridge would be better off if it was clad in denim. But apparently someone has.
And not just anyone: the heir to Fiat’s empire (which includes Ferrari and Maserati). When he’s not handling Italian supercar exotica, he’s thinking of ways to make your fridge more eccentric.

For this little beaut, he’s teamed up with appliance maker Smeg. The result is Smeg’s FAB28, a 1950’s styled refrigerator covered in denim.
To prevent stains and fading, these jeans have been treated with nano plasma technology.
Its 256 litre capacity (222L fridge, 26L compact freezer) is true to the 50s, but its innards are a little more modern. It features automatic defrost, four quick chill crystal glass shelves, a chrome wine rack and eight compartments for dairy, charcuterie and condiments. There is also a fruit and vegetable crisper drawer.
It’s free from CFC and HFC, has a 3.5 star energy rating and uses 246kWh/year.
