Speaking at the press conference today, Chris Kearney, VP Marketing for TomTom Asia Pacific said that the new device will deliver premium navigation to users.
“The TomTom Go delivers the best navigation experience thanks to its fluid touchscreen, easy click magnetic mount, superior maps, IQ routes, park assist, and advance lane guidance. It even offers voice control and Bluetooth hands free calling to keep users safe while driving,” said Kearney.
The new Go range comes in three models – Go 1000 (4.3-inch), Go 1050 (5-inch) and Go 1050 (5-inch with maps of Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and North America).
The devices feature a bright capacitive touchscreen, easy click magnetic mount, Whereis mapping, IQ routes that claims to provide the fastest route any time of the day, park assist that help drivers locate the closest parking station, advance lane guidance, voice command and Bluetooth connectivity. Spoken street names were also onboard as well as pre-installed safety camera alerts.
While the units we had hands-on time with were pre-production models, we saw that the maps were clear, audio was loud, and gave us the fastest possible route in one click. The unit was also able to calculate our route quickly and was able to recognise changes in seconds.
In addition to the Go range, the company is also set to bring a mid-range GPS to the Australian market in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The TomTom Via (comes in 4.3 and 5-inch models) claims to offer the latest maps, IQ Routers, easy to navigate interface, advanced lane guidance, park assist, voice control, and Bluetooth hands-free calling.
The new TomTom GO range will be available from this month with the following RRPs:
TomTom GO 1000 – $379
TomTom GO 1050 – $449
TomTom GO 1050 World – $599
