The Hi Image colour toner is made with smaller (6.8 micron) particles. This ensures smooth reproduction of photos and halftones.
Toshiba engineers developed a new ASIC called e-FINE Image Processing Engine technology. e-FINE technology is claimed to improve contrast and colour discrimination in all areas. This shows especially in edge clarity with difficult images automatically managed to optimise the output.
The four-beam laser coupled with the third-generation e-BRIDGE architecture features a 1200 dpi postscript printing function. This mode delivers crisp line and text work ideally suited for CAD images whereas the 600 dpi (8 bit) mode delivers good photographic-like images. The proprietary Redback Raster Image processor (RIP) drives the e-STUDIO colour range. A new optional EFI controller will also be available later in the year.
Concentrating on ease-of-use, navigation to the device is via a 10.4-inch SVGA touch screen. The bright easy to read touch panel is mounted on a pivot arm allowing full access to the document feeder and top set exit tray. At a glance, handy new functions including paper level indicators, exit tray selection and “My Menu” authentication are available. The “My Menu” allows easy customisation of commonly used tasks permitting one touch operation for any frequently used printing jobs.
All paper drawers automatically detect standard paper sizes so users don’t have to manually change settings each time a different paper size is used. Another significant convenience provides users the opportunity to directly print from and scan to USB memory.
A convenient feature for libraries allows the dark background around 3d object such as books to be omitted saving toner and giving a neater appearance. Paper resources are also minimised with blank page detection and omission in the print, scan and copy process.
To maximise uptime and further increase productivity, the units have been designed with Easy Replaceable Units (ERU). The major components can be removed from the chasis in a matter of minutes providing clear and complete access to units that may require maintenance.
The units combine a host of security measures such as IEEE802.1X LAN user authentication, IPSec protocol and IP/MAC address filtering to prevent malicious access and tampering.
Combined with Secure PDF 128-bit encryption, scanned documents can easily be protected from tampering as with the HDD Encryption 128bit AES which is standard with the unit.
Standard paper supply is two 540-sheet universal cassettes, 100-sheet bypass augmented with an innovative Split Tandem LCF holding 2320 sheets. With the inclusion an external Optional LCF the series has a maximum paper capacity of 6,000 sheets on line.
At its heart, e-STUDIO’s open architecture expands connectivity and simplifies integration within existing network environments. e-Bridge Open Platform enables compatibility with a host of third-party applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange and many others.
