Buying a new Internet TV or SmartTV is high risk and could prove very costly warns an Australian TV distributor who likens the next wave of Internet enabled TV as being similar to 3D TVs which are struggling to sell because of a lack of content and “poor” viewing technology.Malcolm Middleton the CEO of LCD TV who distribute the Bauman Myer TV brand in Australia has said that consumers will be better off buying an Internet connection box, similar to what LG and Sony are offering as opposed to buying a brand new TV.
He said: “By using an attached box to deliver an Internet capability to a TV, consumers will be able to upgrade their existing TV to be a SmartTV or Internet TV without the cost of having to buy a new TV or they can buy a current model TV and attach an Internet connection box”.
He added: “I believe that IP TVs are in their infancy and a lot will change with this technology over coming months. We saw what happened with 3D TVs. There was a lot of hype and promotions by manufacturers who were selling 3D TVs that need 3D glasses. Now there is limited 3D content and consumers hate the glasses, as a result sales of 3D TVs have slumped”.
Recently LCDTV gave Amber Technology co-distribution rights for their Baumann Meyer Premium TV range in an effort to expand their range into the specialist channel.
Middleton said “We are delivering a superior premium TV. The picture is superb and we have excellent connection capabilities as a result we do not believe that a consumer should dump a perfectly good TV for a new just because certain manufacturers are hyping new Internet or Smart TV’s”.
“At this stage there is limited IPTV content, what we are going to do is deliver an attach box that delivers access to the Internet and IPTV services”.
He said that the new Baumann Meyer Symmetry edge lit LED is a bespoke hand crafted high end product finished in Optical Grade Glass and Brushed Aluminium which combined with its slim profile looks good in any home. “There is no need to “junk” it simply because manufacturersw are now hyping IP TVs,” he said.
Baumann Meyer offer three versions of the Symmetry LED range, Piano Black, Warm White and a unique and stunning Mirror version which essentially appears as a slim edged Mirror accentuated by Brushed Aluminium rails top and bottom. Swivel Table Top stand and a clever articulated arm super Slim Wall Bracket are offered as optional accessories.
The Baumann Meyer Symmetry Premium LED Television range is offered in sizes 46″ and 55″ with pricing starting at AU$5,499.00.
