Twitter will be closing down its apps on Android TV, Roku and Xbox on May 24, the social media site has not given information on why but some sources suggest poor ratings.
According to The Verge, all three apps had low star ratings with Twitter for Xbox getting the lowest of one and a half stars out of five on the Microsoft store. Twitter for Android TV nabbed two out of five stars and Twitter for Roku TV got the highest of three and a half stars, both on Google Play.
These low scores were due to the Twitter apps only showing a feed with users unable to tweet or use the social media app fully.
One user gave the Twitter for Xbox app one star saying, ‘Sadly the title of this app was false in calling it Twitter for Xbox and should just be Twitter Reader. I find the lack of connection to a personal feed disturbing. This shows the user what Twitter or Xbox even what they wish us to see, not our own selections. Correct this and allow signing in, pairing with our Twitter accounts, and other features beneficial to an Xbox user on Twitter and this review shall change for the better.’
The company announced the news over its Twitter Support page.
On Thursday, May 24, Twitter for Roku, Twitter for Android TV and Twitter for Xbox will no longer be available. To get the full Twitter experience, visit https://t.co/fuPJa3nVky on your device or desktop.
