Samsung, who is looking to expand their PC range in Australia, has announced two new Ultrabooks. Both will be shown at the CES Show that kicks off next week in Las Vegas.The new devices named Chronos and Ultra are part of the Samsung Series 7 family.
The Ultra is a super-slim model featuring a 13.3-inch Full HD display. There is also an option to add a 10-point multi-touch screen to the Ultra. The device weighs 1.1 kilos and has a bare metal finish.
It is powered by an Intel Core i7 or i5 ultra low voltage processor and has an AMD HD8570M with 1GB of memory graphics processor. Storage is handled with a 256GB solid state drive and the unit can take up to 16GB of memory.
The Ultra features an integrated webcam, stereo speakers, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA connections. Battery life is rated at eight hours.
Pricing and shipping information was not released.
The Chronos is geared toward the professional user. It has a 15.6-inch 10-point multi-touch display, weighs 5.2 pounds and has the same bare metal finish as the Ultra.
The Chronos uses an Intel Core i7 3634QM 2.4GHZ processor with 6MB of L3 cache. Its GPU is an AMD Radeon HD8870 with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. Up to 16GB of memory can be installed.
A variety of storage options are available up to 1TB in capacity and it has the same ports and inputs as what is available on the Ultra.
