The latest iPod accessory comes in the form of the super-slim Altec Lansing inMotion iM500 portable audio system, designed specifically for the iPod nano.
The iM500 weighs in at 340 grams and claims to fold compactly enough to fit easily into a small purse or bag for travel. (The system folds to a close at 215 mm wide, 17 mm deep and 128 mm high.)
But Altec Lansing also claims the system is not just a pretty face, producing good sound as well. The company said since audio volume depends on the measure of air movement within the speaker, the system has been fitted with broad-faced speaker cones which provide more surface area to drive more air within a small space.
The system also features MaxxBass technology, tuned to Altec Lansing audio standards, which claims to provide quality bass without a subwoofer. An auxiliary jack allows you to plug in other audio devices, including other iPod, CD, MP3 and portable DVD players.
The iM500 takes six AAA batteries which the company says will last you about seven hours of playing time.
