The UK Premier League is set to get a new technology partner in the form of gaming Company Electronic Arts who are also developing new scoring infrmation systems for use by TV broadcasters.
EA Sports will get extensive branding during all live Barclays Premier League broadcasts both on Sky, ESPN and all other overseas broadcasts including Australia.
The Company said that the branding will be linked in to match statistics when they appear on screen.
EA also announced that EA Sports will work with broadcasters to develop enhancements for match day broadcast analysis and increased fan interaction. This means broadcasters will be using EA Sports graphics, animations and interactive technology combined with real-time, real world data feeds as broadcast and commentary augmentations.
According to the UK Daily Telegraph EA will sponsor the Premier League’s Player Performance Index replacing Actim. EA will also publish a weekly ‘Team of the Week’ on premierleague.com and say they are looking into ways that this might be integrated into their Fifa products.
