Headline grabber unveils super cheap Ultra High Definition TV at CES 2014 in Las VegasKogan’s 55″ UHD LED Smart TV runs Android 4.2 and will go on sale in late January for $999.
Ultra HD TV, known as 4K, has four times the res. of a Full HDTV at 3840×2160. The cheapest UHD TV’s currently cost $3500 and over.
However, it remains to be seen if Kogan’s answer to Ultra Hi-Def lives up to the quality of big brand competitors from LG, Samsung et al.
It also upscales HD content – both Blu-rays & DVDs, handy considering the acute lack of 4K content available at present.
Other specs on the 55″ UHD TV include: Wi-Fi & Ethernet Port, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and Micro SD ports.
“There’s a lot of really exciting innovation here at CES and we want to thank the entire technology industry for helping to make the world a better place,” said Ruslan Kogan CEO of Kogan.com.
“The real innovation here is the price. Generally it’s Australians who look at prices of technology overseas with envy. For once, it’s now the rest of the world looking to Australia, wondering when this Kogan TV will be available in their country…stay tuned.”
