Foxtel who are set to face enormous pressure this year from cheap IPTV services has decided to change their marketing with the appointment of a new advertising Agency.
Effective immediately the pay TV Company has appointed Clemenger BBDO Sydney as its lead communications agency. The move comes as consumers start to dump what is seen as an overpriced “subscription” TV service in favour of new HD channels delivered at no cost by free to air TV stations.
Also set to hit Foxtel is the launch of new IPTV services which are set to be embedded into new Internet TV’s which will deliver up to 1600 BigPond Movies ranging in price from $3.99 to $6.99 Vs over $100 a month subscription to get the Foxtel services that deliver both Sport and Movie content.
Foxtel said that Clemenger will commence work immediately on the Foxtel brand and acquisition activity.
“The subscription TV business is an exciting place to be right now, and we’re looking forward to working with Clemenger to ensure that FOXTEL continues to lead in providing a best in class range of services firmly focused on delighting and satisfying consumers” said Paul Heath, Chief Marketing Officer, at Foxtel.
Some analysts are saying that Foxtel who have had the subscription TV market to themselves for the past 15 years will see their revenues peak this year as new services start to take consumer away from Foxtel which is 50% owned by Telstra.
