In a bid to diversify the brand, Uniden has launched a new range of five and seven megapixel digital cameras which can take up to 300 shots using standard batteries, the company claims.
The cameras feature a 2.5 inch LCD, 3x optical zoom (35mm equivalent), an automatic image stabilizer function and anti-blur technology. A choice of 12 automated shooting modes such as auto, portrait and monochrome is available as well as a movie mode which records at a claimed 30 frames per second as a QuickTime Motion JPEG. They are also PictBridge compatible and include an internal capacity between 23 MB and 26 MB.
“Uniden has only just launched its first range of digital cameras, which are available this October. Its core categories are cordless phones and radios where Uniden holds a 50 per cent market share. The decision to go into the digital camera category is based on the desire to diversify the brand.
In terms of the target market, the Uniden digital cameras are designed for anyone wanting a compact digital camera that produces high quality images at a reasonable price,” said Uniden spokesperson, Almira Anthony.
