If you have an iPod, mobile phone, handheld console (like the PSP or DSi), digital camera, and a GPS device, there is a big chance that you have a lot of chargers lying around. The Idapt Universal Desktop Charger is a box that will charge all of your electronic products in a single and mess-free box.

If you have a device that cannot be charged with the current tips, fear not – the company claims that they will be continuously developing and releasing tips for ‘never-ending compatibility.’ Extra tips will cost $15 – $19 depending on which model you are after.
Depending on the model that you end up purchasing, you can either charge two or three gadgets at any given time. While we were able to charge our iPod and iPhone using the ‘iPod’ tip, a navigation device via its ‘miniUSB’ tip, and a Samsung phone using the ‘Samsung 2’ tip, we were unable to charge our Nokia N95 8GB edition using the ‘Nokia 2’ tip despite repeated attempts to plug it in.

Upon closer inspection, we found that the Idapt was unable to charge our Nokia phone because the charging tip was a bit on the short side. Calls to the distributor revealed that we got a defective tip. So, just to be on the safer side of things, check the tips you that you will use most before leaving the store.
While it is handy to have, the Idapt Desktop Charger still has its limitations. For one, large devices (like a 4.3-inch navigator) must be ‘isolated’ up front so that there would still be space for charging two other devices (at the back). And since you are forced to completely dock the device, you cannot use it while it is charging (case and point: mobile phones).
Overall, the Idapt Universal Desktop Charger is a great addition for any home or office desk: it can charge most of your gadgets simultaneously and keeps your desk tidy. This unit will be available soon with an RRP of $129 for a three port charger or $89 for a two-port.
The Idapt Universal Desktop Charger will be available in May and will be sold in Harvery Norman stores or the mwave website (www.mwave.com.au).
