SAN FRANCISCO – Android phones are significantly more likely to fail than Apple iPhones, according to a report. The State of Mobile Device Performance and Health report from mobile diagnostics firm Blancco Technology assessed how often a pool of millions of devices fail, and found that 85 percent of Android phones suffered problems in the last three months of 2015, compared with just 15 percent of Apple iOS devices.
The company said Samsung handsets top the table with 27 percent of failures, followed by Lenovo with 21 percent, Motorola with 18 percent and Xiaomi with 11 percent.
The report shows that owners can be blamed for most of the problems with behaviours including running too many applications at the same time and charging devices more than they should.
“Hardware is rarely the cause of device failures. User behaviour, on the other hand, plays an integral role in the day-to-day performance and long-term health of devices,” said the report.
