Australian speaker manufacturer VAF Research has introduced technology which it claims significantly reduces distortion in its loudspeakers.
“By cooling both the woofer and tweeter voice coils of our new Generation 4 DC-Series loudspeakers, we have dramatically reduced thermal compression” said VAFs Founder and CEO, Philip Vafiadis.
“When current passes through any wire it gets warmer. Woofer and tweeter voice coils are no exception. The warmer they get, the higher their electrical resistance becomes, and the greater the difference in quality between quiet and loud sounds,” he said.
Heat sinks fitted to each tweeter and radial venting around every woofer voice coil allows cooling air to be pumped in and out on every single movement, resulting in less temperature difference and thus more consistent sound, the company says.
“The bass is so linear and dynamic in our new range leading DC-X, it can be used without subwoofers even in home theatre systems!” Vafiadis said.
Available in Black Oak, Jarrah or Oak finishes, VAF’s DC-Series comprises of four models which come with a 10 year warranty.
RRP: from $899 a pair to $2499 a pair.
