Facebook announced that it will be providing users with a customisable web ID instead of a random string of numbers and letters to make it easier for people to find you.

This time around, Facebook users can enter a username as part of the URL in their browser.
Starting this Saturday (June 13), one can choose a username on a first-come, first-serve basis for their profile and the pages that they administer by visiting www.facebook.com/username/.
Facebook usernames will be available in basic text forms, and you can only choose a single username and for each of the pages that you administer. The username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (“.”).
Once a name has been chosen, a user won’t be able to change or transfer it.
