Worlds first small screen Honeycomb 3.0 tablet is to land next month, by ViewSonic.

The ViewPad 7x running on Android’s Honeycomb 3.0/3.1 OS, is said to be launched by ViewSonic, at Computex later this month.
Specs wise the device is said to boast dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, front and rear cameras HSPA+ and DLNA and HDMI out for media sharing.
However, it’s not certain whether it will run 3.0 or 3.1 version of Honeycomb, announced this week by Google.
It will be lightweight (bien sur) weighing 380g, and rumour has it the update to the ViewPad 7 (pictured), which runs on Android 2.2 will sport a quirky back design, reports Pocket-Lint, citing ‘reliable sources.’
And reports also suggest its current 7 inch ViewPad model will still stay on the shelves.
This 3.0 Honeycomb release, if reports are correct, could prove a major boon for the brand who already have entered the tab race with its 10 inch Viewpad 10, its answer to the iPad 2, and would be the first off the mark for Honeycomb on 7 inch.
HTC already promised to make the move to smaller screen for Honeycomb on its Flyer although this hasn’t happened yet.
However, ViewPad 10’s release in March last, running on Android’s older 2.2 OS surprised many since the tab battle is now becoming a clear race between the iPad 2 iOS 4 V Google Honeycomb, the OS designed specifially for tabs.
The new 10 inch Motorola Xoom running on the new OS was debuted here last week to impressive reviews. However, the iPad accounts for 80 per cent of all tabs sold globally, is regarded as the industry standard.
No pricing is available either but it is safe to presume it will cost considerably less than the $599 pricetag for Viewpad 10.
Computex is taking place in Taipei, Taiwan at the end of the month, so we’ll find out then whether this story has legs.
