Symantec has announced that its Norton Internet Security, AntiVirus and Confidential software will be Vista-compatible in time for the public release of the Windows Vista. Those who purchased the 2006 and 2007 versions can also get a free Vista upgrade.
Additionally, the company announced that current subscribers of both Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus are eligible for a a SONAR update. Symantec says SONAR is behavioural detection technology that protects against malicious code before standard virus and spyware detection definitions have been created.
“What sets SONAR technology apart from the pack is that our method of heuristics-based detection is so comprehensive and accurate that it boasts a 0.0004% false positive detection rate (4 in 1,000,000 users) of potential threats,” said Symantec’s Rowan Trollope.
SONAR will be delivered to all current Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security users via the Ongoing Protection subscription service model, Symantec says.
RRP:
Norton AntiVirus 2007 is $59.95
Norton Internet Security 2007 is $99.95
Norton Confidential is $79.95
These all include a one-year service subscription to use the product and receive Symantec’s protection updates. An optional add-on pack with AntiSpam and Parental Controls will also be available for Vista-compatible Norton Internet Security 2007 customers.
