Vodafone has beaten Telstra to the punch by providing a solution to the PCMCIA dilemma faced by wireless users.
The solution comes in the form of the Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem, which is compatible with the latest generation of notebooks that use the ExpressCard slots.
The problem with existing wireless broadband cards is that they are currently not compatible with these slots, working only with the older style PCMCIA card slots.
And with Telstra’s solution to the problem at least two months away, Vodafone’s modem is a welcome arrival.
Vodafone claims the modem delivers data download speeds of up to 1.8Mbps and upload speed of up to 384Kbps on its HSDPA network.
The setup process is very easy, according to Vodafone, and allows users to get online in a matter of moments.
