Vodafone has introduced a new plan catering for high mobile data usage, today unveiling its $130 Red plan.Vodafone states it is delivering the “nation’s largest data allowance for smartphones”, with the plan, available from this Wednesday, running over 24 months and coming with a new smartphone (the device cost may be additional), including 15 GB of data per month, upgraded to 20 GB for customers who sign up before November 3, 2015.
Also included are unlimited standard national calls and texts, along with unlimited standard international calls to 10 selected destinations, for use within Australia, access to Vodafone’s $5 roaming and a complimentary 12-month subscription to Spotify Premium, Stan, or The Age or SMH.
There are now 2.9 million 4G-capable devices operating on the Vodafone network, with Stephen Smyth, Vodafone general manager of products, noting customers will be provided further internet usage flexibility via the plan.
“20 GB of data gives customers the freedom to watch a movie or two every week, stream music for several hours each day or enjoy live gaming on the go,” Smyth commented.
Smyth also noted the potential for the plan to be used as a substitute for a home broadband service or by families through a shared plan.
“For customers who use their home internet to watch the occasional movie, browse the internet, shop or keep in touch with friends and family, this plan could be a great alternative for them,” he stated.
“Equally, 20 GB of mobile data is more than enough for the average Australian family’s smartphone usage, providing an affordable solution for households looking to cut down on their mobile phone and internet bills.”
