Stan has arrived on Vodafone, with the telco today announcing a three-month trial subscription for existing eligible Vodafone Red customers.Vodafone and Stan had announced a partnership earlier in the year, which builds on similar content arrangements Vodafone already has in place with Spotify and Fairfax Media.
New and upgrading customers will now have the choice of a subscription to Stan when they sign up to any 12 or 24-month Vodafone Red plan.
Vodafone $70 and $80 Red Plan customers can choose a six-month Stan subscription, while $100 Red Plan customers can choose a 12-month subscription.
Alternatively, customers will have a choice of a Spotify or Fairfax Media subscription.
“We are excited to bring Vodafone Red customers a three-month subscription to the biggest deal in entertainment, and it’s on us,” Stephen Smyth, Vodafone general manager of postpaid, commented.
“With the biggest library of content on an SVOD platform in Australia, and an exciting line-up of exclusive new shows, Stan is inviting Australians to discover new, exciting content.”
Vodafone has also advised that customers connecting to a Red $80 or Red $100 plan will receive bonus data of 2 GB and 4 GB per month, respectively, for up to 24 months, with the offer ending May 5.
Stan chief executive officer Mike Sneesby stated Stan is “thrilled to be Vodafone’s exclusive SVOD partner in Australia”.
“With Stan, Vodafone customers can now enjoy access to the largest catalogue of TV shows and movies on an SVOD service in Australia, with new content added every day,” Sneesby stated.
The announcement comes amid a flurry of activity in the mobile content space in recent weeks, with both Telstra and Optus announcing new data deals for customers.
Telstra is offering Presto subscriptions with selected plans, while Optus has been running a Netflix promotion on certain plans with pre-orders of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
