As competition among high-speed ISPs continues to intensify, Vodafone has sought to lure NBN customers with a free Vodafone TV (valued at $72) and Google Home mini.
Available until April 1, the offer applies to new customers of Vodafone’s NBN Premium plan, pledging a typical busy speed of 83Mbps.
“Vodafone Premium nbn™ is our fastest speed product,” asserts General Manager of Fixed Broadband, Matthew Lobb.
“With a typical busy speed of 83mbps and the customer experience that Vodafone has become known for, the addition of two bonus smarthome products is the icing on the cake.”
Latest Telsyte research forecasts the average number of connected devices in an average Australian home to notch 37 devices by 2022.
The figure is up from an average of 17 devices last year.
“2019 will be the biggest year for nbn connections and we want consumers to enjoy the full benefits of Vodafone nbn™,” remarks Mr Lobb.
“There is a growing trend for higher speed broadband with more than 80% of our customers choosing our nbn 50 and nbn 100 plans. We believe this is being driven by the smart home revolution.”
Running on Google’s Android platform, Vodafone TV provides users access to apps and games via the Google Play Store.
The device claims to be custom-built for the Vodafone network, whilst boasting 4K compatible HD resolution, access to several streaming services, and a free-to-air TV tuner.
Vodafone TV also supports Google voice-search, which is complemented by the inclusion of a free Google Home Mini with built-in Google Assistant.
Catering to budget-concussions households, Vodafone’s Premium NBN plan can also be consolidated with other eligible Vodafone services to unlock ‘Bundle and Save’ discounts.
“This could reduce the monthly plan fee of Vodafone Premium nbn™ down from $89 to as low as $71.20 per month when bundled with four other eligible plans,” adds Lobb.
The telco asserts its recently expanded its coverage area to every capital city, and expanded regional coverage to include the below:
- NSW: Greater Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Central Coast, Maitland, Forster, Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Grafton, Lismore, Nowra, Batemans Bay, and other South Coast centres.
- VIC: Greater Melbourne, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat.
- QLD: Greater Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast.
- WA: Greater Perth, South Coogee, Rockingham, Albany, Esperance, Broome, Exmouth, Geraldton, and many other regional centres.
- SA: Greater Adelaide, Victor Harbour, Mount Gambier and other regional centres
- NT: Darwin and other regional centres.
