Vodafone has reduced its international roaming rates to standard Australian call rates (plus flagfall) when customers make voice calls from New Zealand and Singapore to Australia. However, this only applies if a user has opted in to use the Vodafone Traveller service. The company has also revealed that customers will also gain access to a special offer for data when in New Zealand. Vodafone’s postpaid voice and postpaid Mobile Broadband customers travelling to New Zealand between 4 November 2010 and 9 February 2011 will be able to access the internet or email at a rate of $2 per MB (min 10KB session).
Vodafone Hutchison Australia’s Head of Postpay, Jason Blair said, “Vodafone is always aiming to bring great value to our customers roaming overseas. Our first priority has been to focus on the most common destinations for Australian business travellers and holiday-makers and allow Australians travelling in these countries to enjoy great rates.”
“These new rates enable postpaid Vodafone customers to use their mobile without incurring a roaming premium charge for standard voice calls,” said Blair.
In addition, customers on the 3 network will also benefit as the ‘3 Like Home’ proposition will extend to the Vodafone network in the UK, Ireland, Italy and Hong Kong.
‘3 Like Home’ allows customers to pay similar rates as they would back home for standard voice calls and standard SMS plus access to free incoming calls and a data rate of 50c per MB (charged per KB) when roaming on a Vodafone or 3 network in ‘3 Like Home’ countries.
Vodafone customers who call people overseas can also enjoy great call rates from Australia to 11 popular destinations including the UK, Ireland, Germany, USA, Canada, NZ, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan by signing up to a Talk International Pack. Talk International Packs come in two options and are available to new and existing postpaid customers on a month-to-month basis.
