Cloud telephony is here and on the rise, says Fonality.
VoIP or voice over Internet protocol is now more widely used than ever, on the rise both at home and in the commercial sphere, with Skype being one of the best known providers.

However, the service is on the rise in more ways than one; it’s service is being promoted to the Clouds, allowing more functions to be delivered to callers.

Over half of business surveyed had used the technology, which cuts phone bills by 60 per cent on call costs and line rentals.

Nonetheless, the major benefits it affords are still not widely known.

“The lure of VoIP is even stronger for businesses,” say Fonality, one of Australia’s main providers.

Cloud telephony, which uses VoIP technology to deliver phone service from equipment owned and operated by the provider, eliminates the need for businesses to buy equipment.

The need for phone lines no longer exists – calls are delivered to and from the business over IP connections and Internet, rather than over traditional phone lines.

“And these communication features can be best enabled in the Cloud,” Marc Englaro, Managing Director, Fonality Australia.

Location is also irrelevant in the cloud and callers can make calls from their office number anywhere, allowing home and mobile working.

Mobile phones also turn into extensions of office phone systems.

And look out receptionists – you’re days are numbered.

Cloud VoIP also acts as a virtual office manager with auto receptionist, and call forwarding and can integrate to software including Microsoft Outlook, Google and  Salesforce.

“VoIP services have come a long way in Australia as more consumers become aware of the technology and its price competitiveness, particularly for long distance, international and video calls,” says US founded Fonality.

16 percent of Australians used the internet to make calls including Skype in the home last year, according to Australian Commmunications Authority.
