Panasonic and Walt Disney have cut a deal to sell movies on flash memory cards. the move will allow consumers to watch a movie on a TV with an SDI slot, a PC as well as on in car displays and some mobile phones.
Panasonic said that they hope that the deal will help make it’s memory card format a standard in the industry. Walt Disney expects the deal will boost sales of its movies. The new format will initally be launched in Japan and, if succesfull, rolled out into other markets.
Under the deal, the two companies plan to also put Disney movies on DVDs that come in a Panasonic package as well as onto Panasonic microSD card’s.The card will have a copy-protection feature that prevents it from being copied.
Panasonic produces memory cards compatible with a variety of devices such as flat-panel televisions and digital video cameras.
