Swiss watch maker catches up with the timesGENEVA – Swiss watchmaker Swatch is introducing smartwatch features into its digital range, finally succumbing to pressure from the likes of Apple and Samsung.
Swatch initially dismissed the threat from smartwatches like Samsung’s Galaxy Gear 2 and Apple’s long awaited device, believing them to be novelties.
But falling sales of its traditional brands such as Omega and Breguet have seen Swatch stocks slump.
Now it is introducing fitness functions to its Touch line of digital watches, which may include pulse measurement, training calculators and speed monitors.
The new range is to be launched next year.
