The latest in WD’s range of plug and play external storage drives is the new lightweight My Passport Elite.
Available in 250GB and 320GB versions, the My Passport looks a bit like a passport in shape and size (except that it is thicker). It weighs in at approximately 140grams, and is small enough to fit in a pocket.
The drives are USB-bus powered, meaning they are pretty much plug and play, the company says. For example, you can plug them into a games console to view photos etc stored on the drive via a TV screen.
“Your digital content is as personal today as photos in shoeboxes and racks of CDs were yesterday,” said vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products and consumer electronics groups Jim Welsh.
“The device that securely holds your content should be just as personal. Having listened to our customers, we are expanding the options available on our WD Passport family of personal storage devices with more features, content management functions and fashionable design.”
RRP for 250GB: A$199
