SYDNEY – Online sales by the Woolworths group jumped 38 percent in the year to June 30, the supermarket group said yesterday in its annual report.
It did not give a dollar figure for the online sales, or reveal the proportion played in its total sales of $59 billion, up just 4.3 percent.
The Woolworths group includes Big W; liquor outlets BSW, Dan Murphys and Cellarmasters; Masters hardware; Doorbuster; and Thomas Dux groceries.
CEO Grant O’Brien said the result was pleasing, considering the current difficult retail environment, while development work across the company over the past 18 months meant the outlook was good for Woolies in the current financial year.
