Telstra has added a new feature to its Whereis Navigator that allows a user to find the cheapest petrol in their area.
According to Telstra, the new application uses GPS data and information from MotorMouth.com.au to help find the cheapest fuel nearby. This new Whereis Navigator feature is available to Telstra Next G network customers with selected GPS-enabled mobile phones.
Telstra’s General Manager, Product Management, Mario Davoli said, “When teamed with Whereis Navigator’s capability to provide turn-by-turn, spoken directions, the Whereis Fuel service allows motorists to easily locate and travel to the nearest and cheapest listed fuel retailer.”
“Current Whereis Navigator customers with a subscription to the premium features pack will gain access to Whereis Fuel at no extra cost from today,” added Davoli.
Telstra Next G subscribers with compatible handsets can trial the service in conjunction with a free, 7-day trial of Whereis Navigator’s premium GPS features.
In addition to listing the cheapest petrol, users can now receive turn-by-turn spoken directions to Yellow and White Pages listings anywhere by clicking on the directions URL in the follow-up SMS.
Whereis Navigator customers can now enjoy all the benefits of an in-car GPS via the new integrated mobile service.
Whereis Navigator, Commercial Manager, Fred Curtis said, “The fact that it now only takes a quick phone call and single click on an SMS link for a Whereis Navigator customer to be guided via spoken directions to one of thousands of locations across the country is a really exciting development.”
Telstra has also announced that its Whereis Navigator Traffic is now available in Adelaide, Canberra and Perth. The new feature will help drivers choose the best route to their destination by re-directing them around high-impact traffic incidents.
Whereis Navigator is available on a range of mobile handsets including a selection of BlackBerry, iMate, Palm Treo, Samsung, HTC, LG, Nokia and Sony Ericsson devices.
