A 17-year-old college student has already made over $140,000 selling a white iPhone 4s conversion kit with parts sourced from China. While not official the kit does deliver smart looking iPhone 4s.
The US student is expecting a legal letter any day from Apple as the parts are believed to have sourced via a contact at Foxconn the same company that makes the iPhone.
According to US reports Fei Lam, is selling the conversion kit for $300 and doing a roaring trade.
The kits, which includes white front and back panels, a white home button and tools and instructions for opening the iPhone 4.
Lam, who has already sold more than 500 white iPhone 4s kits, recently got a “threatening” letter from a private investigator warning him that the parts may be stolen or counterfeit, along with other issues that could eventually bring legal action against the teen. Lam repudiated the allegations.
Apple has so far said nothing about the white iPhone with the company still planning a version of their own in 2011.
