It is the end of an era, the Microsoft store has run out of Windows Phones.
On the US store the Alcatel Idol 4S and the Alcatel Idol 4S with VR goggles are both out of stock.
On the Australian site smartphones are no where to be seen.
According to Venturebeat, the reason the Alcatel phones took a while to sell out was because they are just not popular anymore no matter how many discounts Microsoft made.
This day has been a long time coming since the company announced in October last year Windows phone will not get any new features or will they build new phones.
Joe Belfiore Microsoft corporate VP of Operating Systems announced the news through a number of tweets saying there would be no new hardware or updates for the Windows Phone 8.1. Belfiore explained in another tweet that they tried ‘very hard’ to keep the phone but developers were not interested in the platform.
Of course if someone is really wanting a Windows Phone you could probably source it off eBay or Amazon.
