While Apple feuds with the local financial sector, Google’s Android Pay continues to make gains. Specifically, the mobile payment service has now added Woolworths (along with Big W, BWS and Dan Murphy) to its retail partners list.
Woolworths Limited retailers were noticeably absent from Google’s partner list when Android Pay launched last year. It’s unknown at this time why it took them this long to hop aboard.
Although you could already use Android Pay at these retail chains, it’s expected the partnership with Woolworths will pave the way for some sort of rewards scheme involving Android Pay pop up later down the line.
In January, Coles ran a promotion that net shoppers bonus FlyBuy points when they used Android Pay at the supermarket chain.
