LG has unveiled its first Windows Mobile phone during a Telstra briefing this morning. This makes Telstra the first mobile operator in the world to offer this smartphone and will be launched on July 28.

“The LG GM730f has all the latest features and functions keeping customers organised and enabling them to balance their work and social life on one mobile phone. With Microsoft Outlook calendar they will always know where they need to be, so they don’t miss an appointment or social function,” says Maclellan.
The LG GM730f is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and can be upgraded to the new Windows Mobile 6.5 software as soon as it is available. Other features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, video calling, FM radio, MPEG4 and Windows Media Player playback support, proximity and accelerometer capability, 300MB of internal memory (upgraded to 32GB) and a video recording function. The new smartphone will also come with LG’s S-class user interface for easy access to files and programs.
It also comes with a 5-megapixel camera, e-mail inbox, FM radio and Windows Mobile applications like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Telstra’s Product Management Executive Director, Ross Fielding said, “The LG GM730f is a sophisticated 3G smartphone made even better by a connection to the network that that works better in more places – Telstra Next G network. It comes equipped with a high speed 7.2Mbps-rated mobile Internet connection which enables typical download speeds of 550kbps to 3Mbps bursting up to 6Mbps in selected areas.”
The LG GM730f is available on July 28 in Melbourne and Sydney T-Life stores on an $80 over 24 months or $979 outright.
