Nikon has unveiled a new camera that comes with a built-in projector, allowing users to share photos on any flat surface.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the first compact digital camera in the world to feature a built-in projector. According to the company, the camera is able to project photos or movies clips on any flat surface at up to 40 inches in size. Pictures can be projected individually, or as slide shows complete with music and effects. A handy projector stand is included, as well as a remote control that can be used to operate the projector or camera.

The projector has a brightness of up to 10 lumens, has a throw distance of approximately 26cm to 2m, will last for an hour, and has a VGA-equivalent resolution. The camera comes with a 5x zoom lens, macro shooting ability, and a 12-megapixel sensor. The COOLPIX S1000pj will be available in Black only.

In addition to the projector camera, Nikon has also has also added three new cameras to its Coolpix range.

The Coolpix S70 features a 3.5-inch OLED capacitive touch screen that promises to be more responsive, a Touch Shutter feature that takes a photo with a single touch, on-screen sliders that provide touch control over brightness and Scene Effect Adjustment, and easy fingertip scrolling. The S70 comes with a 12.1-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, and sports a slim profile wrapped in a dual texture design. It will be available in Champagne, Red and Black colours.

Nikon has also announced the Coolpix S640 – a camera that starts-up in 0.7 seconds and promises an ultra-fast autofocus system. It sports a 12.2-megapixel sensor, 5x zoom with 28mm wide-angle coverage, and features a custom optimised auto white balance system based on D-SLR technologies.

Coolpix S640
The Coolpix S640 can shoot any image size up to its maximum of 4000 x 3000 pixels with light sensitivity settings of as high as ISO 6400. Fixed range auto allows you to limit sensitivity from ISO 100 to 400 or 800 for effective control over image quality. The S640 is also equipped with Nikon’s new Clear Colour Display technology, greatly reducing reflection and improving visibility.

Another addition to the Nikon line-up is the Coolpix S570, a point and shoot that features a 5x zoom lens with 28mm wide-angle coverage and Nikon’s innovative Expeed digital image-processing concept. This 12-megapixel camera comes with electronic image stabilization, motion detection, Smart Portrait, red-eye fix, and movie shooting capability. It will be available in Silver, Black, Red and Pink.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj ($699), S70 ($599), S640 ($499), and S570 ($349) will be available next month.
